ProtoBag Studio is the Munich-based liaison and project coordination point for China-side bag sampling and OEM production. We work with independent designers, indie founders, and growing brands across European design hubs (Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, London, Paris, Milan, Munich) and beyond. The Munich liaison office handles the client conversation, project coordination, and quality oversight. Sampling and production happen with our China-side team.
Independent designers and indie founders consistently face the same two bad options: full European manufacturing that is too expensive and too high-MOQ for a first product, or cold-contacting overseas factories through a broker chain with a language barrier and a three-day reply gap. ProtoBag Studio exists to remove that trade-off. The Munich liaison office owns the client conversation, project coordination, and quality oversight. Our China-side production team — not a broker chain — handles sample development and batch production. You get EU-time-zone communication and competitive production economics in one accountable package.
The company is led by Hao-Wei Su, who bridges European client communication and China-side sampling and production coordination directly, in English, German, and Chinese. There is no agent layer translating your intent through a third party — the person you talk to about feasibility is the person coordinating the build. For a first-time founder developing a specialised product, that continuity is the difference between two prototype rounds and five.
Our production facility carries over twenty years of bag-making heritage, with 120 highly skilled workers and 330+ machines on the production floor. Equipment and quality control are kept on the same site, which is why sampling and production stay consistent from prototype to batch. The facility works across backpacks, totes, duffels, slings, technical bags, travel pouches, and modular carry tools, in nylon, polyester, canvas, PU, vegan textiles, and recycled materials.
Recent client outcomes include 15M+ units shipped for one North American partner and $12M in revenue generated for one partner in 2025, with 10+ international brands currently in active development. The company works best with independent designers, indie founders, growing brands, and niche product teams across European design hubs — Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, London, Paris, Milan, Munich — and beyond.
Four things define the support model: a Munich-plus-production team covering two time zones with no broker chain; direct communication in English, German, and Chinese; expert material and structural consulting from the sampling stage onward, not just at production; and strict confidentiality, with NDA arrangements available before sensitive design files are shared. Selected facility certifications such as Higg and SMETA are available on request where relevant to the production arrangement.
